He had an innocent wish, and got what he didn't wish for.The more you yearn for something, the more likely you are able to get it...right?
It’s common sense, why would you get something you don’t yearn for?
Common sense isn’t actually reality.
He had a wish, a wish wishing his sickly father would come back to him. Their family had no money for hospital bills, and it was already said that his father’s sickness was a first in the world.
There was definitely no hope. But he believed in the 0.01 or even less possibility. He didn’t yearn for anything, but the courage to believe, to wish.
“Mommy, do you think I can have a wish?” The innocent boy asked.
“Dear son, to wish, you must have courage. Find it, and wish your little wish.” He heard his mother answered him.
The little boy then went to find out what courage was. He asked around the village of his, on what courage was and where to find it.
“Courage is in the far end of the jungle, far from where we are. It is full of lions. Get pass the lions, and you will find courage.”
Drake, the innocent little boy, felt lucky. Although sometimes he doesn’t have anything to eat or drink, he managed to survive. Kind souls all around were willing to accommodate him, and a few even gave him food for the journey he was going to continue on.
Soon, Drake reached his destination and faced the lions. He kept fighting with the lions with his bare hands, as there was nothing he could find as a weapon. One of the lions pounced on him and bit his leg. Drake fell to the ground and a stick appeared in front of him. It was not sharp, but that was all that he had found. He started attacking the lions’ vital parts, which he managed to find out after attacking a few.
Drake naively went on to find courage after taking down all the lions. However, he was not successful. All that was found was a sword entangled in vines. Ignoring the danger sign, he took the sword and left the forest with a dead lion, which he might be able to exchange for money to pay for a doctor to find a cure for his father’s illness.
“I can’t find courage...” Drake sighed. “Does that mean I cannot wish my wish?”
While walking back to home, people saw the sword Drake was holding. Many gave faces of awe and envy, but Drake did not notice any.
“The legendary sword!”
Only those with the talent of using the sword can get away from the vines, with the sword, safely. The vines were made to protect the sword, and those who tried their luck to get the sword, never got out from the forest.
Drake was still oblivious to his surroundings, not processing words which told him to see the King. Instead, he went straight to find his father in the hospital. Coincidentally, the King was also there. Seeing the lion and the legendary sword, the King immediately appointed Drake as the General of the country.
The boy was at lost.
He was still a child, inexperienced, and much less knowledgable of anything much. Drake therefore rejected the offer. The King could not take “no” for an answer, for he knew that Drake was definitely a talent, though his young age. Thus, he promised Drake that he will fulfill any wish Drake wished, only if Drake agreed to become the General.
The boy smiled.
“I wish for my father to be healed.”
Days passed, and one day, Drake was called to the hospital.
“Go into your father’s ward.”
Drake nodded and trotted into the mentioned ward.
“Daddy?”
A smile.
“Daddy.”
Drake, an innocent child, with a pure heart.
A little wish, a big outcome. Don’t try aiming for the moon so you’ll fall among the stars. Try it the other way, and you might actually find yourself on the moon.
“Daddy, I love you.”
